They usually think of the female bodybuilders featured in magazines. Do you want to know the truth? A woman’s body doesn’t produce enough testosterone to allow her to become too muscular. The female bodybuilders you see on TV use steroids and other products to boost their testosterone levels. Regardless of how much you work out, you’ll never look like them unless you take testosterone.

 

Weight Lifting Doesn’t Burn Fat

Most women believe that they need cardio training to lose body fat and slim down. Cardio alone won’t help you get a toned body. If you spend hours on the treadmill, you’ll lose both muscle and fat. Additionally, you’ll feel hungry all the time. Strength training, on the other hand, accelerates your metabolism and helps your body burn more calories throughout the day. It also tones your muscles and raises your mood.

Women Should Use Light Weights and Do Lots of Reps

This common strength training myth won’t die too soon. Lifting three-pound weights is completely useless. Whether you want to build muscle or slim down, use a challenging load. Push yourself harder to discover what your body is capable of. Gradually increase the weight and do up to 12 reps for each set. Lifting heavy weights activates your muscle fibers, burns fat, and makes you stronger.
