Do you want to get stronger, healthier, and leaner? Start lifting weights! Contrary to the popular belief, strength training doesn’t make women huge. It actually increases their metabolic rate, tones their muscles, and makes them look and feel amazing. Over time, weight lifting will cause your body to burn more fat even when you’re at rest. The more muscle you have, the more calories you’ll burn throughout the day.

 

Should Women Lift Weights?

There is no better way to shape your body than lifting weights. For optimal results, combine strength training with a clean diet and cardio exercises. When practiced regularly, weight training will tone your body and boost your confidence. The “toned” appearance comes from removing the layer of fat that covers your muscles.

Cardio or dieting alone won’t give you a toned appearance. If you do cardio but ignore strength training, you’ll eventually lose muscle. Cardiovascular exercises burn both fat and muscle tissue. Women who lift weights are stronger and have beautiful, toned bodies. Strength training supports lean muscle growth, accelerates your metabolism, and increases your strength and endurance. Depending on your fitness goals, you can add cardio to burn that last bit of fat.

 

Benefits of Strength Training for Women

The health benefits of strength training go beyond fitness and weight loss. Weight lifting increases good cholesterol and lowers bad cholesterol levels, reduces high blood pressure, and enhances physical performance. It also alleviates PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome) and lowers high estrogen levels linked to breast cancer.

Women who lift weights at least three times a week are less likely to develop diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, flu, and depression. After a few sessions, your ability to handle stress will improve. Ladies also notice positive physical changes, better posture, and increased muscle strength. The benefits of strength training for women should not be underestimated.
